UFC villain choked out after wardrobe malfunction
Trend News To Day in Google - UFC’s Angela Magana burst out of her top during her defeat by Amanda Cooper at UFC 218.
Cooper was in full control and attacking Magana’s chest from a sitting position. But as they fought, Magana’s sports bra was readjusted and UFC 218 viewers were given an eyeful. Fans will not be able to see the incident on replays as the UFC has removed 15 seconds of actual fight time from Round 1.
Referee Keith Peterson stopped the bout to allow Magana to cover her modesty, but she ultimately failed to impose herself in the fight and suffered a second-round TKO.
“I had an incredible time in #Detroit. Amanda was better & stronger lastnight. Congrats #ufc218 #ufc,” Magana wrote on Twitter. “As for me I absolutely can’t wait to get back to training & get another fight. Fighting is a process I learned so much in this journey for #ufc218. I watched my fight, happy w the challenge my stand up improved and now to work on improving more #mma #ufc.”
Magana has now gone over six years without a win but has kept herself in the headlines through social media zaniness. In one infamous example, Magana compared UFC women’s featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino’s looks to the main character from the “Saw” horror movie franchise.
After seeing the derogatory tweet, “Cyborg” attacked Magana at a UFC athlete retreat in Las Vegas.
Magana was back on Twitter in the hours after her loss to Cooper claiming that Peterson only stopped the fight because Magana is a woman.
“I need to walk in the cage with a banana in my shorts and a crew cut then maybe the ref will let the fight go,” Magana wrote. “Men can f—–g tap out from strikes get hit and the ref wont stop it till 7 shots later after near death experience.”
Whether the stoppage was deserved or not, Cooper believes Magana is not meant for the UFC.
“I don’t think the sport needs her. I don’t think the UFC needs her. Maybe she needs it,” Cooper said. “As soon as I called her out, she was on Twitter freaking out. I think she gets something out of it. I don’t mean to be mean, but I think she probably needed that a little bit. I don’t think the sport needs her, but I think she needs it.”
Despite blitzing Magana in the octagon, Cooper continued her barrage of attacks in her post-fight interview.
“She convinces herself of false,” Cooper said. “I can’t imagine losing as many times as she has in a row or not fighting after two years. I can’t imagine going through all the things she went through. Hurricane, no electricity, not training. I can’t imagine going through all that and being confident.
“I don’t think she says the thing she says on Twitter and social media to amp herself up. I don’t think she’s faking it. I think she truly believes she’s great. Every time I’ve lost, I’m like, ‘Man, I suck.’ I have to think about it and go home and build myself up.
“She’s lost and lost and lost and hasn’t fought in a few years and still thinks she’s the toughest. Maybe she’s just mentally stronger than most. I don’t know what she’s going to think after this. I feel bad for saying that, but good for her.”
